Finally! My first ticket...

I am NOT very proud of it but it's my FIRST ticket from the police. Almost 32 years old and never got a ticket. Since I don't have a drivers license yet, and if I would have I would be a terrible driver, there were not many chances to get fined I guess. Well, today it happened. I was cycling through the park very slowly, talking on my cell phone to my brother. I got to a roundabout and hung up. Got through the busy traffic without talking on the phone. Then, after two minutes my brother rang me again and we kept chatting away. And there they sneaked up on me. Blocked my way. I couldn't go anywhere. A women in uniform left the van and walks up to me. I had no clue, thought she had a question or something. The police officer asked me if I am aware of what I have done wrong. I said no. She said, well I could not just ride my bike and talk on the phone at the same time. I guess so... I had to pay 25 Euros! What? Furiously I paid my money and left. Oh, first I asked for a receipt. I was so annoyed and angry. I needed to tell somebody and called my brother back, not riding my bike. Oh well... I know better next time.
... I hope she noticed my helmet on my head, my well kept bicycle, and my lit lights even though it wasn't dark yet...I should have received a refund for that...

Thought of you a couple of times these last couple of days. Get this, I saw a guy, riding down St Mary's with a slurpee in one hand, and the other hand was not on the handlebars either! You think ticket in Germany? I don't think he was even wearing a helmet! Then today, I see someone riding and talking on their cell phone...also plenty of sidewalk riding going on (thought that one I can understand - I don't think people in this country know how to drive around cyclists - unlike Europeans).
